SQ6, A Functional Integrated PA Center

Document Thumbnail

In the past of P.A. technology, much attention has been paid to improve the reliability and sound quality of amplifiers and transducers. Further designs have led to concentration of typical P.A. functions in one housing, as required in small and medium size projects. The next step is to facilitate the flow of Public Communications between microhones and loudspeakers. The modular concept SQ6 accepts 13 external line-level sources, e.g. the typical SQ6 electret microphones for speech transmission over long lines up to 1 km. (reported at AES' 62nd Convention Brussels). A great variety of priority arrangements can be programmed. The input signals can be routed to 12 different loudspeakers groups, by remote switches at the microphones or at the housing or by means of a programmable matrix. Special facilities are available for alarm tones and (live or prerecorded) messages. After a functional description of the system, an explanation will be given of the electronic circuitry for the remote switching and signalling, the priority setting, the programmable routing, the alarm functions and the audio amplification.
