High Quality Analog Filters for Digital Audio

Document Thumbnail

A/D and D/A conversion requires high-performance analog filters to ensure 14- or 16-bit signal quality. Conflicting requirements include low cost, good amplitude and phase response, low weight and volume, and very low noise and distortion. This article addresses filter specifications and design, tolerance effects, and both passive (LC) and active (RC) implementations. Active filters with near 110 dB signal-to-noise and 100 dB THD are presented.
