The new Eidophonic system will be described, which separates the basic information of tone and its direction of incidence. Only these two pieces of information have to be transmitted without regarding the number of loudspeaker channels used in the reproduction room. In this way transmission by FM-broadcasting or discs can be realized very simply. Acoustical experiments with the new omnidirectional reception system are discussed.
