Loudspeaker Cabinet Reflection Effects

Document Thumbnail

The response of a loudspeaker is modified by reflections from the cabinet edges and from the other drivers in the system. A discrete-time model is derived to explain the major features of such a reflection process. Digital processing of data from experimental measurements shows that reflections cause noticeable impulse and frequency response irregularities. A technique for suppressing reflections is presented and its effectiveness described.
