Document Thumbnail

It is of paramount importance for any broadcasting or recording company that sound monitoring i.e., the quality listening is done under sufficiently uniform and reliable conditions. Some international standards already exist or are under development concerning sound reproduction in cinemas and film control rooms, but they may not be directly applicable to the previously mentioned purpose.: Listening conditions depend in a complex manner on the properties of the loudspeaker(s) and the listening room and the way loudspeaker(s) and listening point (area) are located in the room. All the factors and phenomena are not yet completely known. The paper states the factors and the technical parameters which are considered to be of major importance for listening conditions in a control room. Preferred values and tolerance limits are suggested and compared to those found in the literature.
