Spherical and Cylindrical Geometries for Piezoelectric Polymer Diaphragms

Document Thumbnail

Spherical and cylindrical curvatures for diaphragms of piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride are compared experimentally and analytically as to sensitivity, frequency response characteristics, acoustic impedance, and high sound pressure capability. The cylindrical curvature gives higher sensitivity than the spherical but due to additional vibrational modes, has a more irregular frequency response characteristic and more distortion at high sound pressures. The spherical curvature imparts a higher buckling pressure.
