The paper states and solves the differential equations relating tape tension to the radius of each section of the tape length. On the assumption that the cartridge is functioning in a steady state mode, it develops relations between the existing tape tension and the various tape parameters, e.g., friction coefficients, tape length, turntable radius, etc.
