The use of piezoelectric drivers in loudspeakers, while not an entirely new principle, has always been difficult to control because of the impedance matching problems. A new larger diameter, thinner circular bender, edge mounted to the speaker frame, provides a lower impedance motor for coupling to the horn diaphragm. In addition, a unique electrode pattern eliminates the fragile solder connections and improves the life and high drive capabilities of the speaker.
