This power amplifier consists of a class A and class B amplifier stages. The class A stage is powered by a low voltage floating power supply, which is driven by the class B stage in accordance with the output voltage to prevent the class A stage from saturation. The overall power dissipation is reduced to a quarter of that of an ordinary class A amplifier.
