The human ear remains a remarkably viable sensor even when afflicted by partial deafness. From audiological tests and surveys (and also from the author's personal experiences), it is concluded that persons suffering partial nerve deafness manifest a sensitivity to harmonic distortion that exceeds the norm. This may be partially attributable to the fact that clearer reproduction of audio material is necessary for intelligibility.
