A Method of Measuring Transient Intermodulation Distortion

Document Thumbnail

This measurement uses a signal asymmetric in time domain, i.e. sawtooth. when applied to an amplifier, internal overshoot current occurs at either the signal's rise or fall. If it clips or is in the nonlinear region of the amplifier, DC voltage appears at the amplifier's output, indicating the amount of TIM-D. To facilitate measurements, sawtooth is modulated by audible frequency.
