A method is presented, using digital signal processing techniques, for automatically equalizing the frequency response of an audio system. The method has several advantages, one of which is the fact that only one filter is required no matter how many frequency bands are of interest. In addition, the filter is implemented in software which increases the system's flexibility. Most of the system can be fabricated from off the shelf components, thereby greatly simplifying the design process.
