An analysis of feedback amplifiers is presented which clearly shows the fundamental similarity that exists between the major identifiable types of distortion, such as THD, SID, etc. By viewing distortion as a dependent input noise source and using network transformations a simple cascade model is introduced which puts most forms of distortion in an elegantly simple common perspective. General equations for distortion are derived from the model and applied to a few typical circuit configurations.
