The speech intelligibility in a room is a function of the reverberation time, the direct-reverberant sound ratio, and the signal-to-noise ratio. Important, also, is that every echo or reflection, even within the well-known 50 ms, harms the intelligibility. One has to take into account that in large halls the reverberant level decreases with distance.
