In the consumer market, cassettes have largely supplanted open reel tape. In the professional field, cassettes have only recently succeeded. The reasons are mostly the technical limitations of the design. BASF developed a cassette which meets the most exacting standards of professional sound recording. The features and applications of this cassette will be discussed.
