A "player piano" type of programmable controller was developed for A.S.U.'s ARP 2600 synthesizer. However, the device was designed so that it could be interfaced with any analog controlled synthesizer. The machine consists of a modified chart recorder drive assembly with an optical reading head. The controller circuitry reads, translates, and transmits data from a machine score to the synthesizer. The machine score consists of coded chart recorder paper. Coding and modifying is easily performed.
