Perfection in a loudspeaker has always been the ultimate aim of the designer, but in addition to the now familiar distortions, the sound transmitted from the rear of the cone and leaking through the enclosure surfaces and the energy radiated by the cabinet walls plays its part in "coloring" the sounds head by the listener.
