CD-4 master disc cutting is a complex affair involving both baseband signals (normal stereo components) and two carrier signals superimposed upon them. Because of interaction between baseband and carrier domains as well as the special needs of the carrier domain, a new cutting stylus has been developed which results in significant improvements in performance.
