This is a hopefully tutorial case study of the design of a monitor speaker, including the underlying criteria upon which decisions were based, implementation of testing, selection of components, details of construction, and specification of performance. The purpose of the paper is to reveal fully the practical engineering considerations and performance results as stepping stones for further progress by the industry.
