An instrument containing only fifty digital integrated circuits capable of real-time computation of a 32 term Fourier series is described. Brute-force evaluation techniques are utilized to allow dynamic variation of amplitude and phase of each harmonic concurrent with calculation. Control techniques are described for realizing inexact harmonic frequencies, simulating fixed or variable filters, and synthesizing multiple tones.
