Distribution of Maximum RMS Spectrum Levels in Live Music Samples

Document Thumbnail

In preparation for the 1974 Midwest Acoustics Conference, acoustic instrumentation was set up in two halls at Northwestern University while various forms of live music were performed. Overall spectrum levels were recorded and tapes of the performances made. These tapes were analyzed to obtain maximum levels. The statistical distribution of these levels were recorded and tapes of the performances made. These tapes were analyzed to obtain maximum levels. The statistical distribution of these levels were computed. The analysis shows somewhat higher probabilities for high-frequency energy than has been previously reported.
