Continuing studies of phonograph cartridge response by pulse-train measurements shows that many newer cartridges designed for discrete quadraphonic disc reproduction exhibit essentially minimum phase response in the carrier frequency range of 20-45 kHz. The goal of maintaining a simple "two-degree-of-freedom" system has been met largely through attention to cantilever design, and an obvious benefit has been the maintenance of crosstalk in the carrier range on the order of 25 dB. Refinements in the measurement system will be described and examples illustrated.
