A reproduction method is described for two-channel stereophonic sound programs. As the system requires four loudspeakers and associated amplifiers, the reproduction could also be named quadraphonic; however, the purpose of the additional loudspeakers is not to widen the asimuthal sound-source location, but to enhance the diffusivity of the sound field in the living room. Depending on the composition of the listening room, the results can be made impressive; moreover the required additional equipment is completely separated from the normal stereo setup.
