Performance equations are developed from an electrical mobility model of a typical electromagnetic compression driver. The analysis is independent of impedance and relates ultimate performance to material, air, and phase-plug variables. Two new performance variables are defined; Bandwidth Ratio (BWR) and Bandwidth-Efficiency Product (BEP). BWR relates acoustic power output and bandwidth. BEP is the product of electroacoustic efficiency and the mass-controlled half-power frequency.
