A New Horn Loudspeaker Design Yields Low Distortion and Wide Dispersion

Document Thumbnail

A practical design formula has been found on the distortion due to the nonlinearity between the pressure and the volume of the air at the horn throat. The area of the horn throat may be determined by giving the desired distortion, the sound pressure and the horn directivity at the observation point. Moreover, a wide dispersion will be obtained when the cross-sectional area of the horn is determined by the observed wavefront within the horn.
