Modular Parametric Equalizer-Filter; A New Way to Synthesize the Frequency Response

Document Thumbnail

The proposed system makes possible the synthesis of almost all types of frequency response most commonly used in disk recording, broadcasting and electroacoustics. The equalizer has nine plug-in modules that work at different frequencies. Each module can provide 1/3 of octave, 1/2 octave, 1/1 octave, band-pass or stop-band equalization (Chebyshev); or bell-shaped curves of variable frequency and variable Q; high-pass and low-pass equalization at 22-18 dB/octave and notch filtering. In this paper, the network theory which makes possible the generation of all those functions by means of the exclusive use of active parallel-networks will be analyzed. Such condition is essential to obtain an all-modular and expandable system.
