A Sound Augmentation System

Document Thumbnail

Today's TV musical and variety shows are often assembled from scenes which were deliberately shot out of sequence under differing environmental conditions. To provide bridges between nonmatching program elements and to enhance audience reaction, a portable tape cartridge system has been devised. Twenty-four easily selectable and controllable effects channels provide natural sounding applause, laughter and other reaction or acoustical effects necessary to provide audio continuity. A single lever control permits variation of attack, duration, and decay of the applause effects. Use of standard N.A.B. cartridges allows rapid changes of effects during operation. A stereo cartridge recorder has been modified to allow accurately timed and spaced sequential takes to be speedily recorded.
