Design of a State of the Art Console for Stereo and Four-Channel Broadcasting

Document Thumbnail

With the advent of four-channel stereo and continually improving fidelity in both FM transmission and reception, the FM stereo broadcaster has many new needs for improved flexibility and fidelity in his studio and production equipment. But to filfill current and future needs in stereo transmission, a complete rethinking of current stereo broadcast console design is necessary, resulting in the addition of many features and design concepts not common in current designs. In addition to its broadcast functions, the console design may include provision for limited professional recording facilities for the more ambitious broadcaster. However, these features must be incorporated without disrupting the essential broadcast nature of the console.
