With the development of the modern operating microscope, allowing magnifications of up to forty times, types of laryngeal and phonosurgery-that is, surgery aimed at basically the correction or improvement of a pathologic condition impinging on voice production-that would have been scarcely conveivable a few years ago, have become routine in many institutions.
