A Simplified-Hysteresis-Loop Model of the AC Biased Magnetic Recording Process

Document Thumbnail

As a consequence of the well known complexity of the phenomena used for the magnetic recording of signals it seems to be very difficult, if not impossible to give one single theoretical picture which includes all the aspects of the recordng process. -Models- have been used instead, from which some factors are omitted in order to see the influence of other factors more clearly. It should be stressed that generally these models are not approximations in the mathematical sense of the word. Whereas in a mathematical approximation higher order effects are neglected, here the complex reality is replaced by a simplified scheme which can be handled. The final purpose of this procedure of -separating the variables- is to get the parts of the whole picture which can be put together to form an approximate quantitative description of a given recording configuration.
