Some Problems and Successes in Controlling Noise Exposure in California Industry

Document Thumbnail

I would like to describe our present regulations on noise and some of the history of their development. I will briefly describe how hearing loss is compensated in California. I think you would be interested in some of the practical problems we have had in listing hearing protection devices. I have a few slides which show some of our successes with planar enclosures. I would also like to talk about the activities of our Ad Hoc Noise Committee which advised us on the revision of our noise regulations, and which are now coming to fruition. Some problems of instrumentation, techniques, and insufficient knowledge which blocked some goals. I will also describe the committee's recommendations which will be heard before our Industrial Safety Board at public hearings in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
