The Effect of Microphone and Loudspeaker Directional Characteristics Upon Recreating Acoustic Fields

Document Thumbnail

The importance of microphone and loudspeaker directionality is discussed and graphical data are presented. Both the acoustics of the initiating and reproducing environments, and the number of transmission channels dictate the choice of optimum microphone and loudspeaker directional characteristics and placement. Apparent discrepancies between theory and practice can often be traced to practical limitations of the transducers and/or environment.
