The development of a new concept in modular console design using integrated circuits as the active elements will be presented. The design philosophy behind the particular modular division will be discussed. Among the features to be discussed are the detailed circuitry, packaging concepts and maintainability. Three different console mixing systems using the modules will be shown. The first is a simple eight-input, stereo-output system with echo and equalization. The second is a four-track recording console, and the third is an eight or sixteen-track recording console.
