A mobile minicomputer-based audio signal synthesis/analysis system has been developed which employs mostly standard available hardware modules. The signal processing scheme utilizes software-implemented digital techniques, thus deriving a high degree of reliability and flexibility. A special choice of weighting window, FFT and averaging technique provides excellent measurement accuracy even when the input is subject to frequency shifts and amplitude modulation such as commonly encountered in tape recorders.
