Choosing Monitor Loudspeakers for a National Broadcasting Network

Document Thumbnail

Meeting the diverse loudspeaker needs of a broadcast network that creates much of its own musical and dramatic material is a complex task. This paper describes the selection process and how the technical, personal and political requirements were managed. Loudspeakers were assessed by technical measurements and by controlled listening tests involving 28 people who listened for a total of 122 man-hours. The results were sufficiently consistent that acceptable loudspeakers could confidently be recommended in each of three power-output classes.
