An objective in phonograph playback is to match the vertical tracking angle of the phonograph cartridge to the recorded vertical modulation angle of the recording being played. A survey was undertaken to determine the recorded vertical modulation angles of modern stereo discs. Using the technique developed by White and Gust, a number of commercially mastered test pressings were analyzed. The results of this survey are reported and discussed.
