A Computer Model of Binaural Localization

Document Thumbnail

A computer model of binaural localization in the azimuthal frontal half-plane has been developed. Every effort is made to ensure that each stage of the model represents current data and/or theories on the ear/brain processing. In particular, the modeling of the hair cell neural transduction process appears to have interesting implications concerning the discrimination of the direct sound from early reflections. Preliminary data are presented to illustrate the anechoic performance of the model.
