Throughout the last decade, the analytical design technique known as "Thiele-Small-Analysis" has been used to obtain "optimal alignments" of vented-box loudspeaker parameters. This approach uses the basic tenets of electric filter design theory. Since a filter has equally stringent passband and stopband requirements, one may ask what benefit would be obtained from loosening the stopband requirements. Indeed it would be beneficial to be able to look at responses associated with a range of parameter values to ascertain if they meet the requirements of any particular application.
