A systematic analysis of the behavior of enclosure-filling materials used in closed-box loudspeaker systems has been carried out. The goal was to determine their influence quantitatively in order to be able to develop a new method of designing such systems based on a straightforward synthesis process. This method allows the designer to avoid the empiricism of conventional methods. Implementation of the process is made by means of a program which calculates enclosure volume and the amount of filling material required to obtain a desired system response characteristic using a driver of known parameters.
