During recent years, control rooms for music and speech have been investigated and have been compared with many existing and new types of control or listening rooms. Some criteria for testing of loudspeakers in certain rooms were already in existence, but many uncertainties and questions remained for radio and TV high-quality control rooms. A standard control room does not yet exist, therefore some proposals will be made which refer to a rather nonreflecting room with a low reverberation time of around 0.2 s and artificial reflections produced by around 40 loudspeakers with different delays. With this control room, high-quality sound reproduction is possible.
