This paper addresses the problem of selecting the optimal alignment for a scaled-box loudspeaker system. Consideration begins with finding the minimum achievable cutoff frequency attainable with a given driver. Contrary to previous belief, this is obtained with SC2 alignments (i.e. alignments with values of QTC less than 0.71). This paper then examines useful tradeoffs. A set of graphs is given relating key parameters which simplify the practical design of sealed-box loudspeaker systems.
