This paper presents a synchronization technique to run simultaneously a PAL/SECAM VTR with an NTSC-based digital audio mastering system for reproducing PAL/SECAM pictures with synchronized digital sound. The following major points are covered in this paper: 1) System sync signal conversion, 2) time code signal conversion, and 3) utilization of a data memory for absorbing a picture/sound discrepancy. System diagrams for recording, reproduction, and editing are shown.
