This new system to be installed in the FRG in 1986 brings about a great advance in radio program distribution. The main features are: 1) Consequently high-quality (16-bit resolution) digital transmission from studio to receiver using one satellite channel in time multiplex technique for 16 stereo programs, 2) radio station from wherever in the FRG can deliver programs; distribution nation-wide without blanks or shadows; reception also possible far from the service area, 3) no tuning of the receiver, only choice of 1 out of 16, and 4) additional information and special services: Program-type speech/music identification; single and extended source information (stills), etc.
