The hemispherical film projection used in space theatres puts specific demands on both the acoustics and the soundsystem of the theatre. Apart from the traditional acoustical problems - like reverberation time, avoiding echo's etc. - one of the major problems appeared to be a proper localization of the sound according to the projected image. The paper describes how the localization problem was solved using 38 wide dispersion speakersystems. The paper also describes the acoustical treatment of both a cylindrical and a dome-shaped theatre. Measuring results, including T.D.S.-data, will be presented.
