Tracking Behavior and Transfer Function Optimizing of Pickup Arm-Cartridge Systems

Document Thumbnail

Both the low-frequency tracking behavior and transfer function of pickup arm and cartridge systems can be studied and optimized using electromechanical analogies. A simple numeric model, based on the equivalent circuit of a 'generalized' pickup arm and cartridge system fare described and their application is shown on some examples of conventional and less conventional pickup arm designs. The numeric model makes it possible to computer the transfer function of the investigated system. By utilizing the Fourier Transform, it is also possible to computer the time function of the stylus velocity or excursion for an arbitrary excitation signal.
