Computerized Audio Testing

Document Thumbnail

Various types of computerized measurements have been made using a personal computer together with spectrum analyzers, programmable signal generators, etc. Frequency response tests, signal-to-noise ratio, harmonic distortion, transient intermodulation distortion, gating, one-third-octave measurements, three-dimensional plots, and directional characteristics have been performed on various microphones, mixers, tape recorders, amplifiers, and rooms. The great flexibility in the digital control of the instruments and the enhanced graphic possibilities are illustrated.
