A mathematical procedure is presented which aids the design of sound reinforcement systems where speech intelligibility and uniformity of direct sound coverage are the most important criteria. These criteria are used to predict system performance. Semireverberant sound levels are predicted with consideration given to the absorption of direct sound at first reflection and noise levels are considered as they affect speech intelligibility.
