Improvement of Suspension Linearity in Loudspeakers by Means of Biased Suspension

Document Thumbnail

This paper proposes a new kind of suspension construction for speaker units. This suspension uses dual spiders, biased in opposite directions to cancel each other's nonlinearities, thereby achieving higher linearity. This is very effective against not only second harmonics originating in the suspension system, but also third harmonics which are difficult to eliminate in conventional cable suspensions. In addition, hysteresis is reduced so there is noticeable stabilization of Fo regardless of input power.
