Three-Way Constant-Power Crossover Networks

Document Thumbnail

A design technique of a three-way constant-power crossover network is described, where the term "constant power" means that the input impedance of the crossover network with drivers is constant (purely resistive). The configurations of the networks are the same as those used by Bullock. All three drivers are assumed to have a constant resistive input impedance. The constant-power property is achieved by using Butterworth filters and an additional resistance of a proper value to the midrange driver. Closed forms to calculate the total midrange resistance are given. Also, the tables of element values for normalized cases are given so that their denormalized network values may be easily calculated.
