A new plug-in compander card has been developed in cooperation with other OEMs, which is suited for integration into analog tape recorders and noise reduction units for various applications. It contains a new circuitry design, suing 8 VCAs mounted on a small sized card. This system is compatible with an existing compander in general use today. This paper presents details and design criteria on the circuitry as well as application examples.
